About CRRS
CRRS (The Community Recreation Rebroadcasting Service Association) is a not-for-profit organization that serves the communities of Labrador City and Wabush. The organization is a community-based co-operative governed by an elected volunteer-basis board of directors which are elected each year during our AGM in November. With a history dating back to 1979, CRRS has grown to be a communications leader in Labrador West, offering the area a full suite of Television, Internet and Phone services at very competitive prices.
Its mandate has been to assist our communities and their people, and to date over $1,000,000 has been donated to various groups. These donations to the Labrador West area include; yearly scholarships valued at approximately $20,000, free television and/or Internet services for educational facilities such as schools and public libraries, and major financial donations to the Labrador West Rowing Association, the Tamarack Golf Club, the Labrador City Youth Centre, the Wabush Teen Centre, the Smokey Mountain Ski Club, the Labrador West Minor Hockey Association, the Labrador West Minor Softball Association, and the White-Wolf Snowmobile Club. Another major financial contribution is its yearly senior’s rebate, which now totals over $7,500 annually.
CRRS TV operates its Community Channel 3 for broadcasting public service announcements, local weather, emergency messages, as well as covering live events such as the Labrador West Regatta, Legion Telethon, Menihek High School Graduation, White-Wolf Snowmobile Club’s races, political debates, and various school and sporting events.
